Opus Energy adopts the NSPCC as its chosen charity

After successfully raising £2,000 by organising a charity raffle in aid of the local Northampton NSPCC, Opus Energy were so impressed by their exceptional work that the NSPCC has been adopted as its chosen charity. Opus Energy has pledged to raise £10,000 and will be honouring this support by organising ongoing fundraising activities.

Charlie Crossley Cooke, Managing Director of Opus Energy added, “We are proud to adopt the NSPCC as our chosen charity and help continue the tremendous work they do on a daily basis to protect children from cruelty. As a Northampton based business we are keen to support the local NSPCC activities which have such a positive impact on our community”.

Jenni Cowlishaw, Corporate Manager in the East Midlands NSPCC said “I would like to say how delighted I am that Opus Energy have chosen to support NSPCC with their fundraising activities. It is sad to think, and totally unacceptable, that in the 21st century at least one child is still dying every week at the hands of their parents or carers. The NSPCC has a vision of a society where all children are loved, valued and able to fulfil their potential. In order to achieve this goal we rely on the generosity and kindness of people just like Opus Energy for at least 83% of our income.”

The money raised will be going to the locally based NSPCC services and projects including:

Yew Tree Services
The therapeutic service offers post abuse therapeutic work to children and young people who have suffered abuse or neglect across the Northampton.

Northampton Child and Parent Centre
This project was the first family support centre set up by the NSPCC. The team provides family support services focusing mainly on children aged 0-7.

The NSPCC Child Protection Helpline
The helpline provides free advice, counseling and information to children and young people, and anyone who thinks that a child may be at risk.
