Opus Energy arrives in Cardiff

19th October 2016

As part of Opus Energy’s continuing expansion and development of our customer service and support offering, we’ve opened a new office in Cardiff, South Wales. The new office is already home to 20 employees and is expected to continue growing to create 100 new jobs over the next 12 months.

The office is located in the newly built Capital Quarter in the centre of Cardiff. The area is being developed as part of the regeneration scheme and will eventually have four high-rise buildings offering a mix of office, student living and retail space.

Our new office is located on the first floor of the Capital Quarter 2 building. Energy efficient lighting systems, large windows and glass walls make the open space feel bright and airy and create a comfortable work environment.

Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Councillor Monica Walsh, Ken Poole, Head of Economic Development at Cardiff County Council, and John, Alexander and Gareth Smart, representing Capital Quarter development firm JR Smart, joined our employees to celebrate the official opening on 10 October, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Lord Mayor Walsh stated, “The Capital Quarter, where we stand today, is a landmark development in the heart of the Cardiff Enterprise Zone and we couldn’t be more proud than to now call Opus Energy part of Cardiff’s economic growth.”

“We’re really excited to be bringing Opus Energy to Cardiff and to build on our commitment to deliver an unparalleled service for our customers,” commented Operations Director, Andy Nash. “We are particularly looking forward to moving in to Capital Quarter – a brand new regeneration space in Cardiff – and to finalising our recruitment drive in the local area.”

Three existing employees have relocated from Northampton and Oxford to embed the Opus Energy culture into this fresh start. In addition, each new starter will be given a ‘buddy’ in Northampton who can be used for support. Customer Operations, Credit and IT are already represented in the office and Sales will follow shortly.

Nigel Mears, the Contact Centre Manager in Cardiff, said, “We have brand new facilities and a great office space, but it’s our new joiners that will make the Cardiff office a success. I’m looking forward to instilling the passion and energy we have here into our new starters and understanding each of their skill sets, personalities and experience, to ensure they are put in the right role.”

The brand new offices have been finished to a high quality standard with lots of social space, ideal for the new recruits to get to know one another.
