Looking after the rights of micro businesses
24th July 2018
Your business is a micro business if it meets one of these criteria:
- you use less than 100,000 kWh of electricity
- you use less than 293,000 kWh of gas a year
- you have fewer than 10 employees (or their full-time equivalent) and an annual turnover total not exceeding 2 million Euros.
Opus Energy is committed to ensuring micro businesses benefit from additional protection, particularly with regards to the back-billing of energy supply and at the point of contract renewal.
Backbilling policy for micro businesses
We’re committed to delivering the highest standards of customer service, and as part of our commitment you can read more about our backbilling policy on our dedicated page.
Renewing your contract with Opus Energy
We’ll write to you before the end of your fixed term contract and let you know that the end is approaching and provide you with options for next steps. You can find more information about our contracts here.
If you choose not to negotiate a further fixed term contract and you remain supplied by us at the end of this period, you will be charged for your energy on a monthly plan rate. This plan combines the benefit of budget certainty from fixed rates for a year with the flexibility to end the contract with 30 days’ notice.
If you prefer to transfer to a different supplier and there is outstanding contractual debt on your account , we may object to the transfer.
We also adhere to certain standards when it comes to your service and supply, and when our representatives visit your premises.
